Progress Update 02

It's been a while!™

If you ever get worried about whether or not the earth swallowed me again, just check my Twitter - I frequently post some work in progress stuff and general spam there. On this blog however, I'll only post stuff with a bit more substance ... long posts, new works, that sort of thing. So naturally updates here won't be very frequent.

That being said, here's what happened since the last blog-post:

  • After finishing the female human, I took a month off and worked on some of my sfw-stuff.
  • Finished the male bloodelf.
  • Started the female nightelf, but then ...
  • Overwatch happened! I didn't get into the beta, but Rexx did. I asked him to rip a few of the ingame models, which he kindly did. The ripped models require quite a bit of cleanup and that's what I've been working on since.
  • Started with Widowmaker. Cleaned up the mesh and textures, built the materials, converted everything to quads and built a new nude body from scratch. The model is finished now and ready to be rigged:

  • I ditched the animation, I teased in the first Progress Update post. Didn't like the pose as much as I thought I would. Here's a render of the 11 frame loop it started out as.

So what's the game-plan from here?
  • I want to rig Widowmaker, finish one more Overwatch character and then make an animation of both.
  • After finishing the nightelf, I will put new races on the backburner and start putting out WoW-animations.
  • I will set up a tumblr, where I will only post finished works. This blog will remain what I consider my main-page.
  • After releasing a bunch of animations and having settled back in, I will open up commissions and a Patreon.
I will say for sure that there won't be any exclusive content hidden behind a Patreon-paywall. I want people to support me on their own, not because I offer them some exclusives and alienate the rest. We'll see how it goes ... I'm not completely opposed to incentives though. Polls could be a possibility, albeit a boring one. Maybe a few days time-exclusivity on some stuff? Not liking that one too much though. Just thinking out loud here ... please let me know your thoughts on this, if you have any!

Alright, that's me done! Going back to flipping through Overwatch models, to decide which one to tackle next, now! :X

    1. Mercy or D.Va will be the next females, I think. But first, I need at least one male in the picture.

    2. Agreed for Mercy (y)

  2. If you want a suggestion for a female Draenei model, consider a doggy style sorta thing, that position seems more accepting for their body type

    1. Yeah, that was my thought too. Those horns should make for some good handlebars as well :D

  3. Your Widowmaker model is lovely! Friendly suggestion: you'd likely get way more exposure on Tumblr. :)

    1. Thanks! I will set up a Tumblr, but will use it only for finished works. Right now, I'm fine with limited exposure ... I'm still in the preparation-phase, so there's not much to show anyway.

  4. Glad to hear all is well dude. Not much i can advice as far as patreon rewards or how you want to share your content and where. Only thing i can say is just dont push yourself to hard (you will end up like rexx otherwise lol) and take your time and jsut go with the flow i guess. I am just glad your back in the picture =)

    1. Nah, I'm good! There's plenty of different tasks for me to choose from ... mixing up things is a good way of preventing burnout, I find.
If I get bored of WoW, I can work on Overwatch. If I can't be bothered with rigging, I can always do some modeling or texture work. Soon I can choose to animate as well, so overall things are looking pretty good, I'd say.

    2. Then go forth, take my paw and bring your improved skills to the many in need of release =D

  5. As someone who's often toying around with nude models (or SFW, but this is more of a hobby right now so I don't focus much on those) in SFM and doesn't have a resource for something like Maya.. these models look so much cleaner and the manipulations are of similar quality to them. The models are either glossy or dirty, and the rigging doesn't even allow them to bend in some ways (that would be possible in real life, mind you) without deformation.

    I'm frankly a tad jealous.

Nonetheless, I'll always enjoy your works.

    1. I've never worked with SFM, so I don't really now what its shortcomings are in terms of animation, but it does seem like it comes with a very limiting set of shaders.
I'm also fairly certain that most people don't use it to its fullest potential.

  6. Thanks for the update Ellowas! Loving the work you've done on Widowmaker so far.. Can hardly wait to see you put her through some animations.

The community just wasn't the same without you so continue to take your time and once again thank you for little updates on Twitter.

  7. Knight77 is apparently wanting to get in touch with you about rigging and such. http://theknightshinesbright.blogspot.com.br/2015/11/explanation.html

  8. Great, this Overwatch crap is slowly killing the WoW porn.

    1. Not gonna lie, I had the same feeling but until I saw D.va and Mercy, I've gained hope.
Even though I was looking insanely forward to some new Draenei or Night Elf action.

    2. There'll be Wow-porn from me and lots of it. Won't let the months of work, I spent on those rigs, go to waste.

  9. Huh... Were those tattoos on the original model?

  10. You should have her in a standing position like in her trailer

  11. So did you get a beta too?
Because I may be able to get you one ;)

    1. No, I did not :|
Thanks a lot for the offer, but I won't share my Battlenet details for the same reason you wouldn't give a stranger on the internet your full name, address, bank details and a scan of your ID. Cause these are some of the things a snoopy employee could gather from my Battlenet account. Sorry if your offer was genuine, but I hope you understand my caution.

  12. I dislike patreon as a whole, and incentives, not everyone is free to pay for art. That aside I think you'll figure out some sort of healthy way for people to pay for something nice if they want to, after all your work is literally the best out there. God Bless

  13. Can't wait to see your female night elf work.

  14. Aren't you going to upload this model to deviantart as a Xnalara model?
